1 Hello Delegates on September 10th 2009, 20:50

Welcome delegates!!!
Africa is a continent that encloses various types of issues. There are diseases, wars, corruption, civil wars, piracy, etc. Some of the topics to be discussed in the 2009 African caucus are: The Darfur Crisis, Water Wars, Refugees, political Situation in Zimbabwe, Aids, and the civil war in DRC. Gustavo Amorim together with Pedro Teixeira are hoping to conduct serious debates in which each delegation will expose their ideas to provide the best for their respectable countries. We wish good luck to all.
Enjoy!!!

Kenya, I found a couple of interesting sites (dated last year) that you could look at which explain bits of the crisis in Kenya leading to the present situation:

http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1699867,00.html
(Explains the whole "spiral of violence" with the elections held in December of 2007.)

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/7172103.stm
(BBC is a fantastic source, here is an explanation of the dilemas in Kenya and there is also a very useful map indicating the clashing ethnic groups.)

http://topics.edition.cnn.com/topics/kenya
(This one is from CNN international news and it daily updates different articles on what is going on right now in the country, plus, it has some amazing videos you could check out that enable us, distant viewers, to partially understand the horrific conditions the Kenyans live in.)

Hi delegates, I am Sau Wai and I will be representing Congo this year. I am looking forward for a great discussion in the African caucus.

In relation to Kenya's delegation, I have some really interesting websites in which you guys can look at and start understanding about Zimbabwe's situation.

http://www.mdc.co.zw/
This website may be really helpful in order to understand about Zimbabwe's situation, what have recently occurred and also some organizations that are trying to pomote change in Zimbabwe.

http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?id=3535
http://www.crisisgroup.org/home/index.cfm?action=conflict_search&l=1&t=1&c_country=119
These websites may be important to have a backup about Zimbabwe’s crisis.

I hope these websites are useful for the research! =D

15 Sites on October 4th 2009, 18:44

I believe that way more valiable than recent news is to have an understanding of what each topic is, such as a short summary. This way you guys can achieve further comprehension of what each article of recent news actually represents.
Some sites that give such overview are; Crisis group, Red cross, Africa Resource, the site of the United Nations. Try to find detailed summaries of the issues being discussed, and only after try to get specific information.

Delegates,
the CIA World Factbook and the BBC country profile are great websites to initiate your country research. Both websites contain basic and detailed information about each country. Use them...

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/africa/default.stm
(look for Country Profile - a Guide to Africa..)

https://www.cia.gov/library/publications/the-world-factbook/

Times, BBC, CNN, and others are great sources of information...

hi delegates, for those who dont know, kenya's topic will deal with the political situations in zimbabwe. To backup the delegates about what has been occuring, zimbabwe has a corrupt government, which affects the country's situation in relation to economy, violence and the population's situation. Mugabe has been one of the biggest mistake for Zimbabwe.
Delegates, lets start to discuss about some solutions to end with this mistake.
I hope the African caucus support this idea
